A few weeks back, I was talking with my wife about the differences in exercise programs. We both got into the “heavy” end of the gym spectrum and were hooked. Then we went to a friend’s house, and I picked up a barbell and started lifting. I love being in the gym.
If you’re in the gym, you’re going to lift. If you’re not, you’re going to lift to the point of injury. Even if you don’t hurt, you’ll still be hurting. The same with exercise. If you’re not lifting weights, you’re not going to lose weight. It’s that simple.
My wife and I have always had a love/hate relationship about exercise. We both go to the gym, but she likes it and I hate it. But we both go after the same thing. We both like to lift weights and want to become better at it. We both want to look good in the gym and have a body that is healthy and ready to take on life.
And that’s great, but it’s also great to avoid exercising at all, because you only get one chance to make a good first impression. But when you don’t lift weights, you may not think you’re an awesome person to be around. Or worse, you may be so lazy and unenthusiastic that you never even bother to show up.
Maybe that is just me, but I have found that it not only takes a lot of strength to do big lifts, but that being sore and looking horrible is definitely an impediment to being a great athlete. So if youre trying to lose weight or look great, make sure you dont make mistakes that will hinder your progress.

If you dont work out, you dont get there. So if you want to really get there, stick to those easy lifts and avoid your own body.
Barbell hip thrusts are one of the most popular exercises for the bench press, so I got a lot of interest from my gym mates when I told them I was going to do them. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to be able to do them, but I decided that I wanted to try doing them and see if it was a thing. I did a few of them and I was feeling good to go.
I started out with a weight of around 50 pounds. I chose something pretty heavy, I couldnt imagine anyone getting hurt, but I was sure I could do it. The first thing I noticed was that I could only do it with a very light weight. My first push was pretty light, and I ended up getting a little heavy. The second one was a little harder, and I ended up getting a little heavy.
You definitely need to get a good barbell and a very light weight before you try anything, but this is a pretty simple and easy activity. It may be more difficult than you think though, especially if you’re a beginner.
