In a similar vein to a lot of places, most cities have some sort of “green zone” where you can grow some plants for your own use. I mean, where else would you go to get all these plants for your own yard? And who really knows, maybe the plants will grow and the city can use the income.
Most people are probably familiar with the idea of the “green belt” or “green zone” in their city. These are zones that you can plant some types of plants in. They are usually large and well-maintained areas of lawn, parks, or other open spaces. They are usually surrounded by buildings that you have to maintain, such as schools, libraries, or other government buildings.
The idea of the green belt is also applicable to what we do as gardeners. Some of our clients in our garden business are often surprised to see that our plants come from green belt areas themselves. We plant our trees, shrubs, and other plants there because they are an integral part of the landscape.
I think that it is important to grow some of our own food, but it is also important that we are aware of the environmental impact of what we grow in our own backyards. It’s not just the pesticides and chemical fertilizers we use. We also often grow our own grass, flowers, or vegetables for the same reasons. It’s an easy way to get back into our own gardens.
I think that the issue with growing food for ourselves is that we tend to over-fertilize our gardens with so much fertilizer that we are essentially poisoning ourselves. We also use more water than we should, and we are also more likely to use pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides to kill invasive weeds than we should because we put them in the ground, which is not sustainable.
I think the biggest issue with growing our own food is that we don’t always know how to cut it and the process of growing it. We don’t always know what fertilizers are safe to use, and we don’t always know the best way to plant a garden. We also don’t always know what temperature is best for the soil. If you do something that isn’t right on your soil, then you end up with a less healthy garden.
