It’s one of those things that is so difficult to do for me, but I do it anyway. Since I’ve had an actual baby, I’ve gotten a lot more adept at weighing babies in the kitchen. I’ve been a much more diligent homebody and I think it’s helped me to feel a little more in control of my own weight.
What I found is that most of the things that people say are going to make you lose your baby weight are really not all that helpful, and sometimes even downright dangerous. I know Ive had people say that it will make my baby fat, and I know Ive had people say that it will make my baby big, but all of the things that people say they’re going to do are actually really bad things to do to your baby.
Like, for instance, everyone seems to be saying that you should cut back on dairy foods and exercise at the same time. But it really isn’t that simple. When you cut down on dairy foods, it means you’re eating less calcium. And if you exercise at the same time, it means that you’re gaining weight. And if you eat dairy foods and exercise at the same time, you’re not gaining weight, you’re gaining calcium.

I found that the only thing I needed to take on my list from the baby weight book I bought and read was that you should not let your baby sleep in any bed that is too soft. The book recommended changing your baby’s crib mattress and getting one that is made from a material that is not too soft.
I do not have a baby, but my husband does. He was a very active two-week old human who slept through the night until he was two months old. However, he has become so used to sleeping in his crib, that he now has trouble switching to a different bed. I’ve tried to teach him to sleep on hard, but he will not do it.
