A phone home is simply a call that you send to your phone to let your friends and family know where you are and what you are doing so that they can follow up.

This is a really good idea because it helps you stay in touch with the people in your life. It’s often difficult to be “that dude” who lives in a different city often away from family and friends. Not to mention the fact that the phone home can be annoying if you don’t get to talk to your friends and family as often as you’d like. It’s great for guys who go out for a while and don’t return your calls.

As I said, this is not a bad idea, its great. I know it can be a bit frustrating if your phone or email or e-mail takes a while to get through before you get to hear a reply. But if you get a call or text that you cant even answer, than you can always say youre out of the country, and that will let the person youre talking to know that youre not getting a reply. It adds another level of intimacy to your relationship.

When someone calls you from a long distance, it’s especially important to pick up the phone and answer it.
